Whistle Workshop – Saturday 28th of March

Inishowen Traditional Music Project (ITMP) will host a Whistle Traditional Music Workshop and Recital tomorrow Saturday 28th of March in the Wee Hall Culdaff.

 

The Tutors are Michael Carey, Jasmine Lynch and Catherine Smyth.

 

Michael CareyMichael Carey has played music all around the world performing with trad/modern and rock bands. He has won numerous All Ireland Titles and Slogadh Competitions. He has developed his own style of playing and subtly incorporates musical nuances from other traditional instruments.Tomorrow’s recital promises to be first class entertainment.

 

Workshop  Details

The Whistle Workshop including the Recital costs 10 euro per student.
Admission to the recital is 5 euro and  10 euro per family group
Workshop runs from 1pm to 3.30pm.
Recital with Michael Carey and Michael Gallinagh runs from 4 to 5.pm.
An open session follows at 5.pm
Venue: Wee Hall Culdaff

Harp and Pipes Workshops – A Great Success

Last Sunday the  Inishowen Traditional Music Project hosted the  first in a series of one day workshops and  recitals planned for  2015.

The students of Harp and Uilleann Pipes were delighted and inspired by the experience. The recital was top class entertainment by two of Ireland’s finest musicians Laoise Kelly (harp) and Tiarnan O Duinnchinn (uileann pipes).  A very fine music session by local and visiting musicians completed the days events.

Harp and Uilleann Pipes Workshops – Sunday 15th February

LaoiseLaoise Kelly (harp) and Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn (uilleann pipes) will lead a 2 hour Workshop in McGrory’s Hotel Culdaff County Donegal on Sunday afternoon 15th February from  2pm to 4pm.

 

The Workshops will be followed by a 1 hour recital by Laoise and Tiarnán from 4.30 to 5.30pm.  The evening will conclude with a general music session from 5.30 to 7pm.

 

TiarnainLaoise and Tiarnán have been acknowledged individually with numerous awards as two master musicians. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for students and for listeners to hear the best in Irish Traditional Music.

Summer School – Ceol na Coille -21st to 25th of July

Ceol na Coille will run their Annual Traditional Irish Music Summer School in Colaiste Ailigh in Letterkenny from the 21st of July to the 25th of July 2014.  Some of the finest traditional musicians from Ireland and abroad will attend this years Summer School delivering top quality tuition for a wide range of instruments.

 

A Traditional Singing Workshop will be hosted by the Inishowen Traditional Singers Circle on Wednesday the 23rd of July.

Christmas Singing Session at the North Pole – Friday 13th

Joining them on the night are: Len Graham, the Drogheda Carolans, Colm Doyle, Patricia & Jim Flynn, Maurice Leyden & Jane Cassidy.

Ceolan Traditional Music Session – Sunday 24th November

On Sunday the 24th of November, musicians from  Ceolan School of Traditional Music will be joined by a group of young musicians from Loughbeg Comhaltas Branch in South County Derry for an afternoon session of music and song. The venue is Mc Grory’s Backroom Culdaff and the session starts at 3pm. Ceolan musicians plan a return visit in the New Year.
